Neda Vukovic has written a novel about collective imprisonment within female mindsets, about fanciful glossy magazine dreams that shine but don’t promise to deliver any of the splendour, about an imposed wish towards androgyny and asexuality.
This is a novel that floats, sometimes easily sometimes turbulently, with tears and laughter, and every moment of it is genuine and real. At the end of the read you will feel like Audrey Hepburn in The Breakfast at Tiffany’s, when she wistfully concludes “Because no matter where you run, you just end up running into yourself.”

At first I hesitated about purchasing this book, but after I read the reviews I decided to buy the book and I found that this is really the great book among the thousands. It will just simply take your mind to a whole different world and will surely help you relax very much. The author just went beyond her powers and created a piece of fiction, yet touches the current world issues regarded by what we call today the conception of beauty which is very common now among many especially women. The book is absolutely brilliant, funny yet sad. It will take your emotions to various directions that you will sometimes cry and others laugh in the same dialog. The author really fulfilled what she wanted and sent a very inspiring message to all who cares and are stuck in the same world as she was. The Author listed her riotous story along the journey of her life, filled with many different moments of anger, laugh and sadness in order to touch everyone's heart and feelings. She wanted to give us all a lesson from reading her book that you have to live and enjoy every second left in your life and you can't just judge anyone by the way they look. Really a wonderful book, I recommend all to read it.Product details

What a wonderful book! The author is charismatic in the way she writes and many can, especially women, relate to the ongoing issues created by the so-called perception of beauty. "The Weight Of Beauty" will have you laughing and crying; nonetheless, it sends a powerful and inspiring message.
Based on the desription and reviews, I thought the author was going to focus more on why females become anorexic. Although, she does mention some ties with the fashion industry, I feel like she never even tells the reader why she was anorexic and bulimic. I also wish that the part about her recovery was more detailed. Also, she gets rather preachy at the end - giving God credit for her recovery.
